d1-driver, the amplifier driver

The d1-driver is an analog driver. It is usually connected to the output of the DAC.
It is an answer to the endless question "is it better with or without preamp?".
The strength of preamps is their active stage more than their volume control. The active stage helps driving the power amp.
Traditional preamps have been designed when people had several analog sources: LP, cassette, FM tuner, CD player...
Some of us still use LP today, in this case you can connect the LP via an Analog to Digital converter to the DAC, or keep a traditional preamp.
A d1-driver can also be added in the chain between the DAC and a traditional preamp (solid state, tube or passive) to improve the sound of the DAC.
Many of us use just a DAC as source. The d1-driver is the solution in this case to get the best sound, the lowest noise and the most friendly volume control from a Totaldac DAC remote.

Its drive capability allows the d1-driver to improve the sound of a DAC, improving bass control, articulation, presence, soundstage and life.
It has been tested when connected between a DAC and a power amplifier (transistor or tube), but also between a DAC and an integrated amplifier.
The d1-driver has no volume control because it relies on the DAC volume control.
It has been tested in association with the d1-core up to the d1-direct and d1-twelve DACs, with a big sound improvement even with DACs having a 3.3V output and 40ohm output impedance.

"Arise in believability factor were evident from the very first song, which is not something I can say for even some of the high-end audio preamplifiers a few times the price." Matej Isak, MONO&STEREO
"Le ressenti dynamique progesse autant en régime macro qu'en régime micro.
L'illusion d'y être est superbe.
Comme d'habitude avec un Totaldac, on est happé par cette définition pure qui s'installe, par ce naturel qui vous hypnotise, par cette transparence qui vous fait découvrir les méandres encore insoupçonnés d'un accord ou de l'intention d'un artiste."
